Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust and iDEA will be presenting their award winning project on Ynysfach Ironworks, Merthyr Tydfil at this year’s Digital Past. This innovative digital interpretation project used information resulting from archaeological investigation alongside other contemporary evidence to digitally recreate in great detail the ironworks, its atmosphere and processes.

3D data was also re-used to create additional levels of immersion and engagement with the site, for example real-time exploration, and the modelling and subsequent 3D printing of artefacts.
The Ynysfach Ironworks casting house and refinery complex as an interactive view, moved with the heading and pitch of the mobile device.
